Accessibility Statement

Endospecialists is committed to ensuring this website is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance across all pages.

Our commitment

We believe every patient and referring dentist should be able to use this website comfortably, regardless of ability or assistive technology. Our target is conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.

This statement was last reviewed on May 25, 2026. We update it when meaningful changes are made to the site.

What we have done

The following accessibility features are currently in place across the site:

  • Skip-to-content link at the top of every page for keyboard users (WCAG 2.4.1)
  • Language declared on every page (lang="en")
  • Semantic HTML throughout — header, nav, main, footer, article, section
  • All images carry meaningful alternative text; purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers
  • Color contrast meets or exceeds the 4.5:1 AA ratio for all text (body, headings, links, labels)
  • Focus indicators visible on all interactive elements
  • Mobile navigation uses aria-expanded, aria-controls, role="dialog", and aria-modal
  • Breadcrumb navigation includes aria-label and aria-current="page"
  • Star ratings use role="img" with descriptive aria-label
  • Telephone links include aria-label identifying the location
  • Decorative arrow characters are hidden from screen readers via aria-hidden
  • Animations respect prefers-reduced-motion
  • All page titles are unique and descriptive

Known gaps

We are aware of the following areas where we have not yet fully achieved our target:

Desktop navigation keyboard behavior

Dropdown menus in the desktop navigation open on hover. While they also respond to :focus-within, keyboard-only operation has not been fully tested across all assistive technologies. We plan to conduct a thorough keyboard audit before launch and address any gaps found.

Technical information

This website is built with Astro (static HTML output) and is compatible with the following assistive technologies:

  • NVDA + Chrome (Windows)
  • JAWS + Chrome (Windows)
  • VoiceOver + Safari (macOS and iOS)
  • TalkBack + Chrome (Android)

We rely on semantic HTML and ARIA attributes to support screen reader compatibility. No accessibility overlay or third-party widget is used on this site — we address accessibility directly in the code.
