28 years. Every system. Nothing comes close.
I have been practising endodontics since 1998. In that time I have used every cleaning and shaping system that has come to market. I adopted GentleWave in 2019 — and I have used it on every single patient across our East Bay locations since. Not because it is a premium option I can charge more for. Because it is simply the best outcome available for the person in my chair.
Traditional root canal instruments are mechanical — files that physically shape the canal, one pass at a time. They cannot reach the microscopic spaces, accessory canals, and irregular anatomy inside every tooth. GentleWave's Multisonic Ultracleaning® technology does. It uses a broad range of soundwaves paired with optimised fluids to reach every part of the root canal system — places no instrument can access. For you, that means a cleaner result, less of your natural tooth removed, and a significantly lower risk of failure over time. And because GentleWave works with fluid dynamics rather than mechanical files, it is more comfortable during the procedure itself — not just after.
"The root canal was so painless I literally kept dozing off to sleep."
"12 hours out from my procedure and I have zero pain."
"The most significant advancement I've seen in 28 years of practice."
The outcomes that made us commit — and keep committing.

Every patient. Every location. Every time.
GentleWave is not a premium tier at Endospecialists. There is no "standard" version of the procedure and a "GentleWave version." There is one version — because the goal is always the same: save your tooth, completely and permanently.
Endospecialists has used GentleWave as its standard of care since 2019. Every doctor in this practice is trained on GentleWave and has it available at every location — Oakland, Berkeley, El Cerrito, and Hayward. Every day we are open.
When a new doctor joins this practice, GentleWave is already here. That is the environment Dr. Priya has built — one where the standard of care is set at the highest level, and every doctor works within it.
A GentleWave appointment, step by step.
-
You are comfortable before anything starts
The tooth and surrounding area are fully numbed. Treatment does not begin until you are ready and feel nothing.
-
Minimal access, maximum preservation
A small opening is made to reach the root canal system. GentleWave's minimally invasive approach means less of your natural tooth structure is removed than with standard treatment.
-
Multisonic Ultracleaning® reaches everywhere
Optimised fluids, activated by multiple acoustic frequencies, flush the entire root canal system — including microscopic spaces and accessory canals no instrument can physically reach. This is the GentleWave difference.
-
Cleaned, filled, and sealed — in one visit
One afternoon. Not three appointments spread across three weeks. The canal is filled and sealed the same day — over 92% of GentleWave cases are completed in a single appointment. A cleaner result also means a lower chance of needing retreatment — or losing the tooth entirely.
Real patients. Real root canals.

EdgePro Laser / EdgeEndo
For cases with complex root anatomy, Dr. Priya and her team also use the EdgePro laser system — which eliminates up to 99% of bacteria in the root canal. GentleWave and EdgePro are complementary, not competing. EdgePro is available at all four Endospecialists locations as part of the same standard of care.
Candid on cost. On your side on insurance.
Standard root canal therapy is covered under most dental plans. GentleWave carries a premium — insurance may not cover the full cost. We will tell you exactly what your plan covers before treatment begins. No surprises.
Patients pay us directly and we submit to insurance as a courtesy. HSA and FSA funds are accepted. We also accept secondary insurance.
"GentleWave is worth every penny. I would not offer it at this practice otherwise."
What patients ask before their appointment.
- Will a GentleWave root canal hurt?
- 96.6% of patients report mild to no pain after their GentleWave procedure — Sonendo, data on file. The pain most patients arrive with is from the infection, not the treatment. Most patients are back to normal the following morning. One patient put it simply: "12 hours out from my procedure and I have zero pain."
- How long does GentleWave take?
- Over 92% of GentleWave cases are completed in a single visit. The procedure itself typically takes between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on the complexity of your tooth's anatomy.
- Does my insurance cover GentleWave?
- Standard root canal therapy is covered under most dental plans. GentleWave carries a premium that insurance may not cover in full. We confirm your coverage before treatment — no surprises. HSA and FSA funds are accepted.
- Do I need a referral?
- No. You can contact us directly. Most patients who come to us are referred by their dentist, but you are welcome to call any of our four East Bay locations to schedule.
